A “must do” during your stay at Les Girauderies is a day out touring the renowned wine growing areas of the Gironde/Medoc. Start by taking the Bac (car ferry) from Royan across the estuary to Le Verdon. It runs all day, leaving every 90 minutes, approx. Return by a similar ferry from the pretty village of Blaye, another excellent wine centre. See map. There are too many beautiful vineyards in the Medoc to mention here but do try and stop in Pauillac and have lunch there. You’ll drive past estates like Chateau Latour, Chateau Lafite and Chateau Mouton Rothschild!
